    除以上对于阅读材料的选择方面值得学习的几点外,需要补充的是在教师平时的阅读复习课中还应注意文章的内容的实效性。所谓实效性,即是指选区的材料要紧跟形式,不能总是老掉牙的几篇文章搬来搬去,要注意引用最新的材料和数据,让学生有一种贴近现实生活的感觉,这样才能使他们产生共鸣,从而有兴趣继续阅读下去。同时,平时教师要多加关注世界上各个领域的最新发明、发现,最新科研成果,最新动态等,如国内外大事,基因工程,克隆技术,环保,航天技术等方面的内容, 对有关材料进行收集,编排,然后选用适当的时机,让学生阅读。如在全国人民同“非典”作斗争的时候,各大报纸,中文的、英文的多在连篇累牍的报道有关的疫情,笔者精心选择了上海几张主要英文报纸,如china daily、the 21th century、english shanghai star等好几份报纸上对非典情况的不同报道,组织成一份全面的阅读材料,印发给学生。由于当时学生对非典的情况可说是耳熟能详了,因此,虽然文中的专业术语很多,如隔离区,疫区,感染等,学生仍然能很顺利地通过上下文猜出个十之八九,大大地提高了他们的兴趣, 也让他们尝到了阅读的乐趣。在我国第一次载人飞船成功上天后,笔者又即时地印发了有关的报道,并介绍了杨利伟的个人背景,同样起到了很好的效果。
