abstract
in the american revolution war (the war of american independence),
france played a very important and special role. the war will not burst out so immediately if the french power still remained in the north america. similarly the war would not end over so quickly in 1781 if france had not joined it. to understand the background of the revolutionary war, it is necessary to understand the history of the preceding twenty years, and especially the seven years’ war (1756-1763). french military aid was also a decisive factor in the american victory. french land and sea forces fought on the side of the american colonists against the british. the aftermath of the negotiation with britain’s large concession is also due to france’s passive effect between us and great britain. a comprehensive research on france and the american revolution is examined in this thesis.
