　　abstract: this paper gives an overall judgment for the macro situation of china's agricultural development from four perspectives: development stage, regional pattern, macroeconomic situation and epoch symbol, and puts forth phase orientation, strategic opportunities, constraints and development focuses of china's stable agriculture development in response to the trend of china's industrialization and urbanization, the imbalance in china's development between regions as well as between urban and rural areas, china's constraints by low-carbon economy, and the pressures from china's economic overheating and inflation.
